Maroon Astro is a travel magazine I write and photograph, with one email a month and a site where pieces go up when they’re ready.

I write it for people who didn’t grow up taking trips, and for anyone who feels they don’t travel enough.
It’s for someone with a trip coming who wants picks they can use, someone who wants a few minutes somewhere else, and someone who’s the first in their family to go.
One sponsor per issue at most, labeled “Sponsor,” right after the picks. I write it myself, in my voice.
A sponsored trip, stay, or pick, only for something I’d pick with my own money. It’s labeled at the top of the piece and on the pick itself.
The best fit belongs on a trip: luggage, headphones, a rental car, a faster way to a passport.
I don’t sell a pick I wouldn’t make with my own money, and I don’t sell what I think.
I don’t write reviews for sponsors. A piece from a sponsored trip says what I found, including what I’d skip.
Every pick carries the same box. When someone else paid, one more row says who, in bold, the same size as the others:
Went · Yes, 2 nights
Still good as of · October 2026
Sponsored · The hotel paid for my stay
A piece from a sponsored trip says so at the top, before the story starts. On Instagram, Threads, and TikTok, the post carries the platform’s paid-partnership label.
Write to [email protected] with what you have in mind, and I’ll send you the current numbers.
